The loudmouth of the original crew who never stopped showing up. Blunt, opinionated, and usually right — the one who'll tell Motoko what she doesn't want to hear.

The chapters don't linger on Malcolm's appearance the way they do others', but the impression is consistent: loud presence, wide grin, quick to take up space. He drives a Caliburn and chose yellow and silver as his Section 9 ECM holo colors — which says something. Has a Smartlink implant. The kind of person who looks like trouble before he opens his mouth and confirms it.

The loudmouth of the original Kabuki crew Motoko met at Ho-Oh. Where Ichi plans, Malcolm talks — blunt, opinionated, and often right. He won the crew vote for the first Smartlink implant and had it installed on the spot. Watching crewmate Sam bleed out in the back seat during a Maelstrom drive-by ambush sent him home for a long stretch — he didn't leave his apartment until Motoko came to get him. One of the few moments the crew's casual violence actually landed on someone.
He bounced back and stayed the course. By the story's end Malcolm is a Section 9 regular and one of Motoko's more grounded sounding boards — willing to tell her things the others won't, like when the MSM situation is worth tolerating for the perks rather than walking away from.
